The Oldest Football club in the World have their 150th Anniversary match v Inter
The well known and much revered Sheffield Artist Bill Kirby attended this recent game and painted a water colour of the non-league Sheffield F.C’s friendly against Inter Milan at Bramall Lane on Thursday 8th Nov 2007 celebrating their 150th anniversary. Sheffield FC is officially the World’s first football club and this match closed the huge chasm between the top flight teams and the rest. Sheffield FC eight leagues down from the Premiership played one of the World’s elite clubs and all credit must go to Inter Milan for agreeing to this game and playing one of the most famous players in Italian football Marco Materazzi. Over 18,000 fans turned out to see these two sides do battle at the home of Sheffield United, Bramall Lane.

Bill Attended Art School in the late 50’s, and has lived in Sheffield for a long time. His Artwork is on walls all over the world including USA, Canada, France, Egypt, Australia and in Toyota Cars in Tokyo and has had Exhibitions in London’s West End.
An Exhibition of his work is being organised in Derbyshire in 2008.There is also a book in the making of his work.
